About
Pocket Offline started as a shared note between a handful of friends who kept recommending games to each other on long train rides without a signal. At some point the note got too long, so we turned it into a site. That's basically the whole origin story.
We only cover games that genuinely work without the internet. That sounds simple, but a surprising number of titles claim to be offline and then stall on a loading screen the moment you flip airplane mode on. We test for that first.
Every game on this site is installed, played for several sessions, and poked at in a weird edge case or two before it earns a review. We care about controls that feel right on a small screen, saves that survive a phone restart, and whether a game respects your time.
Nobody pays us to feature a game, and we don't rank titles by who asked nicely. If something is mediocre we say so, and if a small studio made something clever we try to shout about it.
Lukas Berger — Lukas has been reviewing mobile games for over a decade and still keeps a spare phone just for testing offline saves. He writes most of the long reviews here.
